@-->-->-- Phantom Forums --<--<--@

@-->-->--

Hehe today i was browsing through the internet for The Phantom of the Opera and stumble upon a forum which discuss on the movie itself. Actually it is the official forum for the movie.
Interested please click here : http://boards3.warnerbros.com/wbol/forum.jspa?forumID=2000000015

I noticed alot of very meaningful comments on the movie and the storyline, on each scenes and stuff. I found it very amazing and somehow I never took notice or realise that it might mean that way.
And also there are people commenting that those movie critics who said the movie is bad are really strange cos they think the movie is a hit and is really wonderful. Then some commented that not all will like musical movie as it is hard to please the commercial crowd -_-

But even if that is the case, I don't think those movie critics should give such a bad review to the movie BASE on THEIR OWN COMMERCIALISED VIEW on COMMERCIALISED MOVIES! They should keep those opnions to commercialised movies. Not on musical movie! Even in Singapore, those reviewers gave a bad review. I am so utterly disappointed with them! It in turn affect the performance of the movie box office! My friends who love the musical nearly don't want to watch it because of the bad reviews in magazines. >:( That! Made me really angry! But luckily I am there to assure her that this movie is really GREAT! No doubt she agreed after watching it and she watched a second time! And she in turn spread the good word to her other friends. I have already watched the movie 3 times and I am still spell bound by it. Those people at the forums watched like 5 times already! :D

Anyways I am going to post those comments and messages here, for remembrance. I can only hope that blogger will be kept "alive" forever so when I am old, I can refer back to "now" :)

Someone wrote this about the scene where Raoul placed the monkey musical box on Christine's grave while Phantom placed the ring and the rose...

I have read another persons answer to this and it gives me meaning to this scene so here goes. The Musical Monkey Box belonged to the Phantom, a favourite toy and Christine had spoken of this to Raoul. The Ring was a gift from Raoul to Christine so it was an item belonging to Raoul. The Phantom and Raoul were placing items belonging to the other person on Christines' grave acknowledging the love the other had for Christine. Acknowledging that Christine needed the safe love of Raoul and the passionate love of the Phantom. This explanation made sense of the scene for me, I hope it did for you. Yes, that is what I got from the ending. That is why I think it was so nice, plus I think the two men had come to grips with each others confrontation from earlier days. When Raoul looks up to see if the Phantom is around it seemed he almost smiled and wanted to see his old nemesis.

--<--<--@

:) Hmm I never thought that scene meant that. But now that I have known, I felt so glad!

Another post which I think is meaningful...

In some of the posts I've read here, some people seem confused about the ring, especially as to why it changes hands so many times. I was too until I watched the movie a second time and listened to this part of the soundtrack several times. Here's my take on it. I would appreciate any feedback on this. The first time we see the ring is at the Masquerade, on a chain around Christine's neck, a sign of her secret engagement to Raoul.

Then Phantom steals it, saying: "Your chains are mine! You belong to me!" Later when he kidnaps Christine from the stage he puts the wedding veil on her head and gives back the ring saying: "Turn around and face your fate! An eternity of THIS before your eyes." Essentially this action means that to him, from that moment they are married (The ring now representing a wedding band instead of an engagement ring). It is a clever and kinda cruel thing to use the same ring that Raoul gave to her, but that's what he's all about, right?

Then after Phantom forces Christine to choose between him and Raoul, Christine says: "God give me courage to show you that you are not alone", gives the ring back to him along with that awesome kiss (actually two), and completes the "wedding". Raoul, not having seen the first half of the "ceremony" probably has no idea why Christine is giving away his ring, or maybe can't even see her give it to him since Phantom's back is to him. He may even have go on for years never knowing about the exchange, but thinking Phantom had it the whole time. Phantom understands immediately what Christine is doing, knows that she loves him in the deepest, truest way possible and is choosing him, not just to save Raoul's life, but because he is her soulmate.

The line in the song "Phantom of the Opera" hints at this: "My spirit and your voice in one combined." This is a true union of the heart. In the song "Stranger Than You Dreamt It" Phantom says: "Fear can turn to love. You'll learn to see, to find the man behind the monster, this repulsive carcass who seems a beast but secretly dreams of beauty."

Right here, with the ring and the kiss, this happens. Christine sees and loves the man, and the monster disappears. Now he can neither hold her prisoner nor can he give her the life she needs and he sacrifices his own happiness for hers, just as she did when she gave him the ring. His line: "Christine, I love you" is a reaffirmation of their union, and proof for Raoul that he truly is a changed man.

I think this is why Raoul gives up his quest to destroy Phantom (his own dark obsession)and leaves him alone from then on. I also think he figures out somewhere along the line where Christine's heart really is and knows that if he were to continue his quest he would be worse than the Phantom because he would have no excuse for his actions (no tortured childhood or horrible disfigurement).

Finally, when Raoul finds the ring at Christine's grave, he realizes that Phantom has finally let her go, and/or leaves the ring as a sign of official acknowledgement that Raoul loved her and deserved her love as well. In the end all three of them sacrificed something for love: Phantom and Christine their chance for a life together, and Raoul his own obsession to eliminate the competition and have Christine all to himself.

Another one, Someone asking whether at the end of of the movie, Raoul have tears in his eyes is because Christine is "in love" with Phantom

ella_child , Is that why Raoul had tears in his eyes???? been meaning to asked this question to the forum.
Was that tears of Raoul seeing how much Christine is "in love" with the Phantom?

I'm not sure if I would use the term "in love" at that moment, but they had a passion that Christine didn't share with Raoul. It was darker yes, but it possessed her nonetheless. She was vulnerable to the Phantom's seduction, and it was just as powerful as the security Raoul's love provided.

@-->-->--

Will share more when I post blogs :)
Today while I was exploring the forum, I stumble upon this thread where they say the monkey musical box (it played "Masquerade"!!!) which was treasured very much by Phantom is for sale on a particular website.

So I click on the website and found so many musical boxes of different designs! There was one that is of Phantom and Christine, then another is Raoul with Christine. I like a particular one which looks just like a jewellery box. It is so exquisite!

But too bad -_- they don't ship to Singapore, only within US >:(

I was so disappointed! Although Ebay have sale for the monkey musical box, it costs way too much, the highest bid can go up to US189 O_O
That is so expensive and adding the shipping fees, I can imagine how expensive it is going to be!
But then I really wish to have one ;_; Sigh, guess me and the monkey musical box have no fate
:(

I can imagine myself, every night before I go to bed, I will listen to it. And the music box, playing "Music of the Night" or "Masquerade" or "All I Ask of You" will coo me to sleep :D Isn't it wonderful!? I think it will bring me sweet dreams! ^^

Anyway interested party can go to this web page

http://www.funtocollect.com/phantomofopera.html

Who knows you might have a overseas relative residing at US area. If yes please do inform me! I want that musical box!!! Haha! Thank you! ^-^

ps: I read the forum, they said The Phantom of the Opera Dvd might be releasing on the April/June '05 if not, it will be on the Nov/Dec '05 period. Which is kind of long isn't it -_-

@-->-->-- Food Verdict Day --<--<--@

@-->-->--

Today I went to work, thinking that the boss would scold me about the touch ups I did for the OFE, but luckily he didn't. But can't help feeling guilty cos the touch up is now being assigned to Valerie to do.
Today got new things to do already, need to color some kiddish pictures for some Music Factory school -_- Must be done by Tuesday night, so I brought home work to do. Bleh!

Today I went eating lunch with Junhua and Val, heard quite a lot of funny jokes (as usual :D) from him. Anyways, throughout the whole afternoon, I have been thinking about eating this cereal that Val bought last week. It is a french cereal, with chocolate chips, it looked really nice on the cover! Looks too good enough to eat!
So after work, I suggested to go grocery shopping with Val as she need to buy her own stuff too.

And while on the way, I have a sudden craving for chicken nuggets plus instant noodles.

Before we went to shop for grocery, we went window shopping on clothes, we went to Mphosis and guess what!?!?!?! We saw a very beautiful and sweet white dress (it is like a tube dress but it looked so elegant and pretty!) on display, with black ribbon tied just underneath the bosom part of the dress that is very Christine Daae!!! Val and I were like Chrrrrriiissstineeee!!! Ahhhhh!!!
Val somemore searched the shop for me to find the dress. But can't find it, then she suggested to ask the sales person, I was like, ask already, I won't buy so what is the point? Even if I buy the dress, don't tell me I am going to hang it in my room and keep looking at it and keep saying Ahhhhh Chriiiiissstttinnnne!?!?! Hahaha! Then we went to another shop then we started to say Chrrrrriiisstttineee again cos there was another clothing that resemble me of Christine! Hahaha!!! Then even at the lingerie section, we started out Chrrrrriiiissstttinnnee thingy again! But strange thing is Val never even watched Phantom of the Opera, don't know why the hell she knows what is very "Christine" and what is not!?
-_-;; But so far, she is pretty accurate on what is "Christine" and what is not! Hahaha! ;D

Ok so going on towards grocery shopping after all the "Christine" business ended.

In the end, I bought...

1. The French Cereal with chocolate chips
2. Nata De CoCo

3. Farmland Nuggets at promo price. I was actually torn between ready made macdonald nuggets and those frozen ones. But in the end bought the frozen one.
4. "Chu Qian Yi Ding" Chicken Soup Flavour Instant Noodles.

5. Daisy Hi Low Milk.

I was quite happy about the whole thing as I can imagine eating all these yummy food prepared by moi when I reached home.
Then guess what?

In the end, my verdict is...

1. The French Cereal with chocolate chips
I got cheated!!! >:( Val was telling me the cereal is quite chocolatey! And somemore can tell me the texture of the chocolate chip! When I went home, pour out and try, I can hardly see one chocolate chip!!! How can that be! I was devastated!

Overall: 3/10

2. Nata De CoCo
YUMMMM! This Nata De CoCo is very nice! I was chewing it all the way!!! Chew and chew and chew! Very satisfying!

Overall: 7/10

3. Farmland Nuggets
I have bad experience with a prev brand of frozen nuggets, so I wasn't very sure this will turn out nice. But indeed! It turns out not bad! I was quite impress with Farmland! Good work! Haha! One minor thing to remember! Never cook Farmland Nuggets then soak it into instant noodles -_-

Overall: 6/10

4. "Chu Qian Yi Ding" Chicken Soup Flavour Instant Noodles.
This is so disappointing! I am very disappointed with "Chu Qian Yi Ding" brand, especially with the chicken flavour one! The original one was quite ok.
I cooked this, eat one quarter of it and pour the rest away. It is just plain bland! Wonder if the problem lies on my cooking or the noodles? But then again, last time I cooked the original flavour one, it tasted pretty good. Must be the noodles!

Overall: 1/10

5. Daisy Hi Low Milk.
What can I say? This will always be my favourite milk.

Overall: 8/10

And my conclusion?

I have been cheated and wasted 14 bucks on thing I highly anticipated! Hahaha! Next time I won't do that again! Think I just recovered from my sickness, that is why.

Today as always, I kept thinking of Phantom! And keep listening to the soundtrack. I can't wait for the limited edition one but I have no money to order just yet. Hoping my boss will transfer some funds into my bank soon ;(

Phantom...Phantom...Phantom...Phantom...Phantom...Phantom...Phantom...

Sigh.. that's all I can think about. Can't hardly concentrate on work
;( I did my work in a daze today and of course resulting in slow production :( Don't know whether is because of the sickness I just recovered from.
Somehow I felt different, like I am not myself anymore.
Hmm...

@-->-->-- Brava! --<--<--@

@-->-->--

Brava, Brava, Bravissima...

- Phantom praising (hiding in shadow) on Christine's stupendous performance when she sang Think of Me.

--<--<--@

Watched @-->-->-- Phantom of the Opera 3rd time! --<--<--@

@-->-->--

Yup! I watched the Phantom of the Opera the 3rd time! And cried for the 3rd time too!
It was so long ago that I have something that I am so obsessed with. Think the last movie which I watched for 3 times was Anna and The King! Which was like during polytimes.

Then it dawned on me most things I obsessed with are romance tragedy shows. Like in the end, the couple cannot be together that kind. Hahaha...

Yesterday I went out with Jean and Pei to watch the show. They commented it had such a sad ending! And they both like Phantom too, highly charming and he had such character when he flunked his cloak around! *^^*
Too bad Monica couldn't make it :( She has to work.

After that, wanted to go home but received a sms from agwenalist, asking me want to meet up with her, Zen and Val. So I went home, took my medicine and took the Phantom of the Opera Companion book and went off to meet them. I just reached home for 15 mins and need to go off again -_- abit bo liao hahaha.
In the end, Val didn't want to meet as she need to do her floor plan. So I ended up waiting for agwenalist and zen. agwenalist came, and we both waited for Zen. Wow she took so long to come and meet us!
In the end we ate at Breeks, quite disappointing cos don't have my honey chicken leg and the food not very nice. So I didn't ate up all.
After the dinner, we went outside of Takashimaya, sat down and talked. And the 3 of us talked about what show we had seen, and realised we all cried on the same day watching different shows.

agwenalist's is I am Sam.
Zen's is something about teacher and students one but didn't catch the title.
Mine of course is The Phantom of The Opera.

Other than that we also talked about womanly things like the having regular period and whatnot hahaha! Of course not forgetting about Ram la. Hahahaha!
Think I was quite sleepy and drowsy, so I didn't contribute much.
On the other hand, I was also worrying about the OFE bochures which I did for my lady boss's father, turns out there are unsightly patches on the printouts when they sent it for offset printing. Sigh.
I will be dead meat on Monday! :( Bleh! So much things happened over the 4 days that I didn't went to work due to my sickness!!!

Ps: I'm almost recovered from my sickness :) And I am aiming for The Phantom of The Opera Limited Edition Cd which showcase all the nice songs from the movie, not just the highlights only which features in the normal movie soundtrack ; ; Hope by next week I have the $$$ to order from amazon.com! Oh! 21st is the coming friday which is a holiday too, yahoo! The national release of Phantom of the Opera DVD! Must order!!! o(>.<)o By then I am going to be reunite with my Phantom :P

~Think of Me~

@-->-->--

Think of me, think of me fondly, when we've said goodbye.
Remember me once in a while - please promise me you'll try.

When you find that once again, you long to take your heart
back and be free, if you ever find a moment, spare a thought
for me . . .

Lead Me, Save Me from my Solitude...

@-->-->--

'' Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime . . . Lead me, save me from my solitude . . . Say you want me with you here beside you . . . Anywhere you go, let me go too . . . ''

-Phantom to Christine when performing "Don Juan Triumphant"

--<--<--@

@-->-->--- Phantom of the Opera : Music of the Night ---<--<--@

@-->-->--

Yeay! I watched Phantom Of The Opera on the 4th or 3rd of January 2005!!! My first movie of the year!!! And the most remarkable one too!

Frankly speaking, when I first saw the trailer that the musical is made into a movie, I was quite excited and I called agwenalist immediately to tell her about it and asked her whether she would like to watch the movie with me. Of course she said yes immediately as she is a musical avid like me! :D

At first there wasn't any planning on watching the movie, so I wasn't like very enthusiastic about it either. I kept forgetting that I needed to watch this movie! Either I was too busy with work or too busy playing games.

So in the end, agwenalist went to watch this movie with her friends and I read from her blog that it was a terrfic show! And agwenalist likes Raoul in the movie alot, as her blog stated, Raoul was very handsome, she even posted his pictures. Personally I don't think he is.
At first, I thought Patrick Wilson acted as Phantom but it wasn't him. So I didn't pay attention until agwenalist told me Patrick acted as Raoul.

Then agwenalist suggested to watch the movie with me and zen. And I agreed but I wasn't like in a frenzy fever or what. I was just happy to see the movie because the galore of nice nice songs in it!!! I forgotten most of the songs, how the tunes go and whatnot. But one thing is I know all of them are nice songs!!!

I went to watch the musical before when I was in secondary school with the drama club, and the deepest impression of the whole musical is the song, "Think of Me" the debut song Christine performed in the show. Hahaha... Another thing is I remembered I needed to use my binoculars to watch the show as we were seated too far behind already :( I remember the other club members kept bugging me to lend them the binoculars.
The story I almost completely forgotten.

And on that fateful night, the movie re-ignite my spark of memory!!!
Everything was so nice, the movie, the people and the costume!!! The way they direct the movie... I love the opening scene so much!
From old, dusty, black and white to colorful and vivid opera house!!! Then the Phantom of The Opera overture was playing behind, it was like that kind of ominious theme. :D Felt so cool!
And the part where Christine finally saw Phantom behind the mirror, that part was good too! How he enchanted Christine, when they sang the Phantom of The Opera duet and also the part where Phantom sang Music of The Night to Christine, these are all the nice parts I like :D
Of course when Phantom finally appear for the first time, I was enchanted by him! O0O -> This is my reaction.. and I kept telling agwenalist excitedly (like I nv saw a man for 100 years like that) ," WA SHUAI SHUAI SHUAI!!!" (meaning WA very handsome!)

Love the story very much.
Only regret is that Phantom and Christine cannot be together.
:( But that's how the original story goes, and no matter how much wallowing, complaining and weeping can change it.

I have very special feelings towards Phantom. He was so poor thing :( In one of the songs he sang, " This face... which earns a mother's fear and loathing.." Poor Phantom was being deserted by his own mother when he was so young because of his deformed face :(
All he wanted so much was someone to love and care about him. But no one does that. Sigh... And he loved Christine so much, he taught Christine how to sing, fathered her in a way disguised as *Angel of Music* and make her felt safe when Christine was young.

He believed that Christine's singing can make his music take flight. But since Christine had made her choice to love Raoul, he knew he was going to lost her forever. And his music of the night will be over, so he resorted to unreasonable ways to get Christine. He already don't know what to do to make Christine stay beside him, as he don't know much about love and the world. I know it's wrong to kill innocent people but Phantom had already lost that part of conscience in his heart, ever since he was being mistreated as a child. :( I felt so much empathy for poor Phantom.

Luckily, at the end, dear Christine moved him with a long deep kiss and embrace (HURRAY!), Phantom was stunned as he has never known human love. Christine's gesture - the sacrifice and commitment were too much for Phantom to bear. In the end, Phantom let Christine goes..

As the saying goes, "If you love someone, let her go."

Before Christine went off with Raoul, Phantom finally said the big three words, " I love you... " which he never did once confessed in his whole singing performance. He looked so helpless and devastated. Christine then took off the engagement ring that Raoul gave her, and gave it to him as a remembrance of her.

As she went off with Raoul on the boat, she sang... like she was singing the last time for poor Phantom.
And then Phantom just disappeared into nowhere...

I was thinking that if Phantom had used another way to court Christine, I don't think things will end up this way. :(

How much do Phantom love Christine? Can love be measured in terms of weight, depth or dimension?

All I know is Phantom love Christine very very very much.

I know it's just a ficitional character and I shouldn't be so serious about it but then I just can't help feeling this way. Even it's fictional, it's great, noble and such tragedy.

Throughout the movie, I kept asking agwenalist whether is there any romantic scenes between Christine and Phantom! Hahaha! I always can't wait for scenes where Phantom and Christine are alone! :P

As for my friends, I would like to apologise to them if I have irritated the hell out of them by always blabbering about Phantom, Phantom and more Phantom. Haha! Sorry ah! A big sorry goes to Valerie as she spent most of the time with me, hearing me telling her all about Phantom!
But Valerie did commented that the opening scene is very good and well done! She haven't watch the movie but i described to her about it and she felt it was quite creative to have an opening scene like that. She is definitely not just entertaining me!!! Hahaha!!!
Oh ya! She did also said that Phantom looked "dark" (Tall, dark and handsome, that dark! Not the skin fair or dark) :D

Some people ( Like my boyfriend! >:( who watched with me again on the 9th of January 2005) just dislike the idea of watching a movie where the characters uses singing even when they are just having conversation! But hello! That's what a musical movie is all about ok! My boyfriend was like, "Huh!? They will keep sing non stop throughout the whole movie ah!?"
I was like -_- then I said, "Ya that's what a musical movie is about, and somemore the music is so nice what!"
GRRRRR Guys!!! What do they know about it!?!?!? >:(

Worse, he made a comment on the songs yesterday when he said, "The songs are like Disney songs." -_- Wa lau! No ok! The songs are all so theatrical!!! How can he compare to Disney songs huh!?!?!?!?! >:(

I have so much sadness for Phantom that I don't think by merely typing out words on this blog can describe it.

Frankly speaking I felt more sadness for Phantom than the Tsunami Incident.
For this, I felt guilty. But I wanted to speak the truth and that's the truth!

I go to the temple to pray every monday since my work place is very near the temple. On "chu yi" (the 1st day of the month in chinese calender i think) which happened to fall on Monday, I went to the temple and prayed. WOW!!! There were so many people!!! I wanted to light the joss sticks but was always kanna squeezed out!!! After lighting my joss stick, I went to say my prayers then suddenly someone joss stick's ashes floated onto my face, wow the stinging pain! Ouch!

I bought The Phantom of the Opera Companion Book from Times bookstore. It features the early and different adaptions on the movie Phantom of the Opera, And then it covers on the cast and music of this adaption of the movie. Last but not least is the screen play script. Although it's expensive, I think it's rather worth buying. There aren't many pictures on Phantom and the only nice picture of him is the back cover of the book! Damn it! -_-

Yesterday I was telling Valerie that I felt like learning how to play the piano. And whether she knows any friends that know how to play the piano so I can get free lessons. :P Hahahhaa! My lady boss knows how to play the organ! :D Even more suitable for playing the Phantom of the Opera music! But I don't think she will teach me :(

Amazon.com also sell the music score of The Phantom of the Opera! Most of the songs are in it! I want to learn how to play "Think of Me" !!! Hahaha!
Then I continue to tell Valerie that I imagine this scenario that me and my friends are dining in The Centre Stage of Art Dining (not sure whether is this name), this restaurant is quite modern and high class, and in the middle, they have a live band, complete with a piano.
So I will be saying, "Sorry, can I borrow the the piano?"
And then... I will be playing "Think of Me" !!!! Hahahaha!!!

I can't get enough of Phantom of the Opera! Hahaha! Valerie was saying that it has been a week and I still haven't got over it! O_O
Hahahaha! :P
And I asked Valerie a difficult question yesterday. I asked her what will she do if her child is born with a deformed face (touchwood!) ? She said if she discover early, she will abort the child. Then i asked her, if already gave birth to it and can't abort it?
She replied me that she will feel very frustrated, the child will also feel frustrated. She said especially if the child loves her very much.
Hahaha :P

This coming saturday I am going to watch it again with another batch of friends! :D
The first time I watched with agwenalist and zen, I don't feel so much emotion for this whole movie or for Phantom. I was bearing neutral feelings for it. But at the ending part, it really captured me. And then now here I am, mind full of Phantom, speech full of Phantom...

For me, I have Pass the Point of No Return now...

ps: Oh yeay, Phantom always has this romantic gesture... he always gave a rose with a black ribbon tied to the stem to Christine..... ^^

Christmas has passed! And here comes the New Year!

Bye bye Christmas and welcome New Year 2005!

Hmm a sudden recap of how i spend my holidays 2003-> I remember spending it chatting with agwenalist on MSN, slacking away in my room, watching the reruns of The Fly 2! And i remember I am still working in Silicon Illusions!

In 2004, I spent my Christmas well chatting with agwenalist, zen and valerie. Too bad that day there was this small company gathering and they did bought food so i wasn't really hungry and didn't try Mr Bean food >_< I was practically dozing off when we were chatting cos i think my energy level is too low :( Please don't be mistaken I wasn't happy to have that gathering ah! :D

As for new year 2005, I was at home, playing MMORPG! LOL, rotting again! While agwenalist and zen is celebrating the happy season in different places, shaking their boms boms and having their waist held! :P LOLOLOLO Hope my neck won't get chopped by someone!

On the first day of new year, i went for palm reading with Val. It was really great, knowing about what is in store for your future. I know it isn't good to know your future as you will have a mindset that this and that will happen, thus going towards that direction. But still, it's great to know such wonderful and amazing insights :)

I realise my life is always so routine. Eat, sleep, bath, go to work, come back to work, play game then after the day ends, everything will start again! I feel like I am programmed to do all that! It must be some matrix thingy behind all these! >:( There must be something in life to be excited about! But in my life, there is no motivation, bah! Quite meaningless!

Ok that's about it folks! :P See I told you I have nothing much to blog about!

Hereby wishing everyone a Happy 2005! May all the best things come your way! :D And also may peace goes to those who passed on and to their loved ones during the tsunami incident.
